Welcome to my portfolio and adventure journal!
GO TO MY LATEST ENTRY: Colorado Marathon 2013: A race to remember
I'm perched atop a small rock near the parking lot 18 miles up the Poudre Canyon, calmly watching busload after busload of runners anxiously milling around in the dark. A crescent moon shines overhead, quickly falling prey to the ever-victorious morning rays of sun.
Some people don trash bags -- I'm among them. Other drape heat shields from previous races or huddle with loved ones or strangers in an attempt to stay warm and calm nerves in the chilled 30 degree 5 a.m. air. It smells of IcyHot and Bengay with a hint of processed sport bars.
It can mean only one thing: It's Colorado Marathon Sunday!

Whether you're here to check out my latest adventure story or find out what newsy awesomeness I'm up to, thanks for swinging by.
I want to rediscover what the reality in the lives of people truly is. Be it through long-term travel, interviews, photography or a mixture of all three, I want to tell the stories for those who are often forgotten in America and around the world. Everyone has a story -- what's yours? I'm a reporter and copy editor at the Greeley Tribune in Greeley, Colo. When I'm not reporting on chicken ordinances or marijuana policy -- surprisingly common themes in rural Colorado -- you can find me adventuring in the back country, logging miles on the trails or working on freelance writing projects. I occasionally contribute to Run.com and have also written for the Denver Post, Scene Magazine and North Forty News. Translation: I like to stay busy. There's always another adventure lined up -- always an eye on the horizon. And always another story to be told. It's the way life should be. |
